LHSS Pelotonia 2025

LHSS is excited to announce that we have created our first ever Lee Harris Skating System Pelotonia Team to join the community in fighting against cancer and working together to focus on One Goal!

In order to move forward with our team, we are looking for at least 6 additional cyclists to join the LHSS team as well as any donations you would like to give to our team. We will not turn away anyone interested in the cause, and we also accept Virtual Riders/Challengers. If you have interest in joining the LHSS Pelotonia Team and/or donating to our team or would like more information, please see below:

What is Pelotonia?

Pelotonia is a community driven event that raises money for cancer research and raises awareness of the fight against cancer in Central Ohio. Community members are welcome to donate to the cause and/or join the more than 6,500 cyclists that ride in the 24-190 mile bike ride that occurs during Ride Weekend each year.

Since 2009, Ride Weekend participants and the surrounding community have raised more than $309 million toward innovative cancer research at the OSUCCC – James, with 100% of participant-raised funds being contributed.

When is Pelotonia 2025?

Ride weekend is August 2, 2025

How can I be involved?

There are several options for getting involved:

1. Join the LHSS Team of cyclists and choose from 24-, 50-, and 100-mile bike ride commitments (see below).

2. Join the LHSS Team as a Virtual Rider (see below)

3. Donate to our LHSS Team and the Pelotonia cause (see below)

What does it mean to be a bike rider on the LHSS Team?

As a member of the LHSS Team of cyclists, you are committing to riding in one of the 3 options for the bike ride on August 2nd. You are also committing to raising a minimum amount of funds for the One Goal, as outlined below.

1. 24 Miles: Downtown Columbus to New Albany Schools

$1,250 Fundraising Commitment

A great route for cyclists of all experience levels with the shortest mileage and smallest elevation climb. Rides will start in Downtown Columbus and conclude at New Albany Schools.

2. 50 Miles: Downtown Columbus to Abercrombie & Fitch Co.

$1,500 Fundraising Commitment

Ideal for intermediate riders with some training under their belt. This route has riders start in Downtown Columbus and finish in New Albany at Abercrombie & Fitch Co.

3. 100 Miles: Downtown Columbus to Kenyon College

$2,000 Fundraising Commitment

Beginning in Downtown Columbus, riders will pass through Granville, Newark, and Bladensburg on their way to finishing in Gambier. This route will feature options for riders to add additional elevation & miles if they choose!

**All cyclists will also be responsible for a one-time $184 registration fee.

What if I decide I want to change the length of my ride?

You have until July 9th to commit to your Pelotonia ride distance & fundraising responsibility. After July 9th, your fundraising total will be locked in until October 15, 2025.

Do I have to have my fundraising completed prior to attending the opening ceremonies?

To be eligible for the Pelotonia Opening Ceremony, you need to have raised a minimum of $1,250 by July 31, 2025.

What if I can’t raise enough money to cover my fundraising commitment?

If you haven’t raised enough funds to cover your fundraising responsibilities by October 15, 2025 you will be responsible for making up the difference. Our Pelotonia team is able to share/pool together all of our funds to help cover everyone’s responsibility, but it is not guaranteed.

What does it mean to be a Virtual Rider/Challenger?

As a Virtual Rider, you will have the opportunity to participate remotely while still being part of the LHSS Pelotonia Team! With this option, you choose up to 5 Activity Goals and raise funds without physically participating in Ride Weekend.

Virtual Riders have a $100 minimum fundraising commitment.

How old do Ride Weekend participants need to be?

The minimum age for physically participating in Ride Weekend is 14 years old.

How do I donate to the LHSS Pelotonia Team?

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated! Please rest assured that 100% of your donations will be directed toward cancer research.
